Channa dal in coconut milk
This Channa dal is a creamy, lip-smacking dal curry slow-simmered in coconut milk. Delightful accompaniment to rotis and chappathis.
Instructions
  1. Heat a pressure cooker. Add oil to the cooker. When the oil turns hot, add cinnamon and cloves and wait till it turns fragrant. Add ginger garlic paste and chopped onion. Add the pureed tomato and channa dal to the cooker. Add the turmeric powder, red chilli powder and salt. Add 1-1/2 cups of water to the cooker. Stir well, close the pressure cooker and plug in the weight once steam escapes. Pressure cook for 15 minutes or until the channa dal is cooked soft.
  2. Pour coconut milk into the pressure cooker, stir well and cook on medium-low until the flavours blend – about 10 minutes. Switch off. Serve hot with chappathi. Enjoy!
